Blunder leaves Crouch with two left feet‎

The Sun reports that the Tottenham striker was caught out after his girlfriend Abbey Clancy packed his bag for last month's friendly against Egypt with two left shoes.

The 29-year-old realised his girlfriend's mistake just before he boarded the team bus headed for Wembley and was forced to ask aides to rummage through lost property bins in the hope of finding a pair of matching size 12s.

Fortunately for the 6'7" goal ace, they came up trumps and he was able to comply with England coach Fabio Capello's strict smart dress code for the trip.

A source told The Sun: "Peter was pleased when Abbey offered to give him a hand. She's very thoughtful, so she said she would take care of packing his outfit to travel to the stadium in.

"He didn't think much more of it until he tried to slip his shoes on - and noticed a problem. Abbey had packed him two left shoes. He rang down to reception to see if they had anything suitable for him to wear from their lost property department.

"Finding size 12s is a tall order, but surprisingly they did manage to find him a pair. So Peter managed to look as smart as his team-mates for the big match."

Crouch was on target twice against the Egyptians as England ran out 3-1 winners as part of their preparations for the summer's World Cup in South Africa. The World Cup 2010 tickets of all matches are now available for sale.

Although he said this week no-one is a shoo-in for Capello, the Chelsea defender comes close.

RIO FERDINAND

Some alarming blunders for club and country, but when he’s good he’s very good.

Has matured as central defender since taking on the captain’s role at West Ham.

Always had pace and great attacking fair, but is at last fulfilling potential as a left back.

Played the role of understudy to Cole against Belarus but did not shine.

Old problem of playing in same side as Gerrard seems to have been resolved.

Finally on his way back from his injury hell but will he be ready for South Africa?

STEVEN GERRARD

Would walk into any side and can always be relied upon to give 100 per cent effort.

JOE COLE

Has had to battle back from knee injury but on his day one of the most exciting players around.

JAMES MILNER

World Cup in 3D events planned by Sony

Sony, the owner of the 3D TV rights to the 2010 World Cup football finals, has announced that it is preparing a number of events in the UK and in Germany where matches from the World Finals will be screened in 3D.

In Germany and the UK, the broadcasters with the TV rights for the competition do have 3D broadcast capabilities, so in order to bring live 3D football to fans, Sony is planning to show the live matches in 3D at special events around the two countries.

In the UK, it is anticipated that around fifty venues such as cinemas, will be showing the matches.

However, it seems that for the England fans there may be a problem, as FIFA only announced last week that England group stage games would not be in 3D!
